Layers of approximately 150-200, Dark Chocolate colored, Large/XL eggs per year. We focus on SOP and egg color. Breeding for SOP is a hatch heavy, cull heavy program. Our birds are not perfect. But we always take SOP into consideration when breeding. We also strive to breed birds with strong health and a good disposition. There is no place on our farm for an unfriendly rooster.
Also, please don’t ask for our darkest eggs or only 7 or darker, etc. We always give the best eggs laid during the collection period.

Layers of approximately 200-225 medium/large eggs per year. Also, with these birds, you’ll have a possibility of getting eggs with a pink hue due to the chance of heavy blooms. This gives the eggs a mauve/lavender/lilac appearance. Without the bloom they are a beautiful terracotta color! Another extra way to achieve that rainbow!

Layers of approximately 200-220 olive, dark olive, moss, sage, spearmint, mint chocolate chip, copper, golden, and chocolate Large eggs per year. Because this is BACKCROSS BREEDING there is a possibility of getting brown colored eggs from your birds. We are not able to tell egg color until the hen lays an egg.
Crooked Arrow Ranch employs flock breeding, so when you place an order for day old chicks please indicate if you’d like Lighter Olives or Darker Olive backcross. Lighter Olives you will get a mixture of Olive, Spearmint, Sage, Grey, Mint Chocolate Chip chicks. And Darker Olives you will get Dark Olives, Moss, Cocoa, Golden, Copper, Chocolate chicks. Basically, whatever Olive color ratio hatches out that week.
When ordering Dark Olive Backcross, your olives will appear as lighter eggs. The babies you hatch have the ability to lay the darker backcross colors. Usually 50% brown and 50% green shades. Please remember, half of the hems you hatch have a chance of laying BROWN EGGS. I can not guarantee they will carry the blue gene. Also, please don’t ask for all BC4/5’s. We always give the best eggs laid during the collection period.

HATCHING EGGS
HATCHING EGG ORDERS WILL BE FILLED IN THE ORDER THEY ARE RECIEVED AS EGG PRODUCTION ALLOWS.
Please note that not all breeds are available when your order is placed. Some breeds have a 4-6 week waiting list. (If it's longer you will be advised.) Wait times per breed will vary. All orders will be filled in their entirety. This means that if you have eggs that are available now but others that wont be available for 2 weeks, we will collect fresh eggs of both breeds when they are both ready.
We are happy to provide our customers with fertilized hatching eggs when our girls are laying. Hatching your own chicks is an experience for everyone; whether it be to teach the little ones about development or to allow a broody hen without a rooster to hatch her own babies. Our eggs are collected daily and all orders are filled with the freshest eggs possible. Your incubation conditions and practices are beyond our control so we cannot guarantee your hatch success. Eggs will not develop chicks unless exact conditions of temperature and humidity are met and hoping they had safe travels. Before placing your order for hatching eggs please understand there will be no refunds on your hatching eggs regardless of the circumstances. Packages will be shipped UPS 1-3 day or USPS Priority Express only.
We recommend purchasing twice as many eggs as you want chicks if you are hoping to get hens. Statistically, your hatch should yield 50% males and 50% females. We also recommend purchasing a few extra to increase your likelihood of hatching your ideal number of chicks. Although we are able to hatch at a 90%+ hatch rate at home, most people are happy and lucky if they get 50% on shipped eggs. The longer an egg waits to be incubated the less likely it is to develop a chick. The traveling and handling that the eggs will endure before making it to an incubator will play a factor into their hatch success also.
**Please understand that not all eggs from each breed will be available at all times in any quantity you desire. Our girls need breaks too! Since we raise them naturally without any artificial lighting we see dramatic decrease in egg production throughout the fall and winter seasons. This does not mean eggs aren't available at these times - it only means we are not able to accommodate large orders of one breed at once. Please feel free to reach out and we can discuss your order and the time frame you can expect to receive your fertile eggs. Ways to contact me are listed below.
Fertility: if we are shipping hatching eggs, that means we are checking fertility at home weekly. Fertility can change in a blink of an eye. In order to make sure that we are offering the best eggs with the highest chances of hatching, we have to make sure we are checking fertility regularly.
Tips for Hatching Shipped Eggs
It is best to set your eggs as soon as they've had time to settle since bringing them home (ideally they should rest for 24 hours). If you're not able to set them when they're ready, be sure to store your eggs in a cool location out of direct sunlight, with the pointy end down. Room temperature of stored eggs should be 60*F.
We hatch at VERY low humidity with our dark shelled eggs. 25-35% for the first 18 days and then bump up to 45% at lock down.

CHICKS
We're happy to provide our customers with the healthiest, day old, Heritage and Hybrid chicks we can. Our chicks come from flocks that are raised 100% on pasture and locally grown, farmer harvested and mixed high protein, non-GMO, soy free feed. Our flocks are also tested yearly for Pollorium Typhoid and Avian Influenza as required by every US State. Customers can expect to receive the appropriate NPIP paperwork along with their order via email or hardcopy if requested. Chicks are also vaccinated for mareks disease and started on medicated chick feed.
Please message us for a shipping quote. Chicks are shipped in high quality poultry shipping boxes with gro-gel, chick feed, and 72 hour heat packs.
PULLETS 8+ WEEKS
Started Pullet Orders will be filled in the order they are received once inventory has been evaluated. Orders are usually filled end of May to the beginning of June but they can carry out into late July, if needed. Deposits are non-refundable. No exceptions. Once we are sold out, we are sold out. Birds are hatch for orders only.

Our started pullets range from 8-12 weeks of age. All started pullets come from flocks that are tested routinely for Pollorium Typhoid and Avian Influenza. All pullets are vaccinated for mareks, started on medicated chick feed and then switched to a high protein, non-gmo, soy free feed.
The minimum purchase for started pullets is 2. Integrating a single bird into an existing flock can be very stressful for that bird. If at all possible, integrating two or more at a time is ideal so that they are not singled out and picked on by the existing flock. Think of it as a buddy system.
Although our birds come from disease-free flocks, practicing good bio-security measures is key to maintaining a healthy flock of your own. Please always remember to quarantine new birds upon arrival. A 30-day quarantine from your flock is a simple and necessary bio-security measure to ensure the safety of both your new birds and your current birds.
Due to limited space on our farm, pullets will not be available at all times. As space allows, we will offer pullets on pre-order.
